Cat Fencing
This is a poly mesh material consisting of layers of stacked black strands of plastic. These stacked quality of these strands give the mesh strength but still allow it to be flexible. Because of it's flexible quality, the mesh isn't easily climbable by cats. They can also run into the fence and bounce off of it without getting hurt. Most cats can't chew through this material but it's not chew proof, even though it's hard to cut through even with scissors. The material has a high breaking strength and is suitable for not only keeping in cats but excluding other animals like dogs, coyotes and other wildlife.
This mesh can be easily bent to form different shapes for cat containment, blocking areas under decks, access to roofs and more. Some customers use this mesh to create a mushroom shaped barrier on trees to prevent cats from climbing up them. This fence mesh isn't available in stores.
As a bonus, from a distance this mesh isn't very visible. When running the mesh in an area with trees in the background it can seem to disappear.

Metal Cat Fencing Material
This material is a chew barrier and great for excluding predators. This material is also easier to climb for cats and is usually not suitable for a stand alone cat fence unless you have a complete enclosure with a top (like a screened in porch for example). Usually a cat fence would have this type of material at the bottom with poly cat fencing on the top. The picture below (click to enlarge) shows the visual difference between the two meshes from a distance. The top is the standard 650 poly mesh and the bottom has the metal cat fencing. Some customers overlap both for extra protection or to make the transition less noticeable.
